How ELGI began

How ELGI began

Where purpose became possibility.

Established in 1989 in Vellalore, Coimbatore, The ELGI school was founded by Late Sri L.G. Varadarajulu, fondly known as LGV, the visionary Chairman of ELGI Equipments Ltd. Recognised as the “Father of Corporate Governance” in Coimbatore, LGV believed deeply in sustainable human development and in “giving back to society” through education, healthcare, and social responsibility.

Driven by this vision, the ELGI school was established to provide quality education at affordable cost and create meaningful opportunities for children from diverse social and economic backgrounds. What began as a modest educational initiative has today evolved into a respected CBSE institution serving over 1100+ students from UKG to Grade 12.

Over the decades, the school has steadily strengthened its academic systems, infrastructure, technology-enabled learning environment, extracurricular ecosystem, and holistic educational practices while remaining deeply rooted in its founding values.

Education Rooted in Purpose
Built on a Legacy

A Legacy that continues to inspire

Late Sri L.G. Varadarajulu strongly believed that education was one of the most meaningful ways to uplift society and create long-term social transformation. He envisioned a school that could create access, opportunity, dignity, and hope for deserving young learners and their families.

That original spark has today grown into what Dr. Jairam Varadaraj, Managing Director of ELGI Equipments, describes as “a mighty flame, illuminating the lives of hundreds of socially disadvantaged children and their families.”

This founding philosophy continues to guide the institution even today under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Jairam Varadaraj and the ELGI leadership team. As The ELGI school evolves towards a larger vision of educational inclusion and social impact through initiatives like Project Stellar, it remains deeply committed to its original purpose: “developing good citizens through holistic quality education at subsidised cost.”

“To give back to society by developing good citizens through holistic quality education at an affordable cost.”
